Book news

Hey, guys, I'm reviving my LJ with some book news.

First up is a history book, Templar Convivencia: Templars and Their Associates in 12th and 13th Century Iberia. This was my PhD thesis with the University of St Andrews, livened up by 47 photos I took in Spain of Templar sites. If you like Templars, Jewish or Muslim history, or medieval women, you'll want to check it out. It's available on Kindle. Facebook page here.

Synopsis:Templar Convivencia: Templars and Their Associates in 12th and 13th Century Iberia explores the people behind the legendary medieval warriors: the Order of the Temple of Solomon. Contrary to popular myth, most Templars were neither knights nor nobles. Many were not even monks. Spanish Templars in the Crown of Aragon included in their ranks women, Jews and even Muslims. Illustrated with 47 photos of sites in Spain.

Next up is my brand new horror/dark fantasy novel, The Mighty Quinn, fresh out from Dark Continents. You can find it on Amazon in print and ebook form, as well as elsewhere. Facebook page here.

Synopsis: Quinn Bolcan is your garden-variety West Coast rounder from Vancouver--or, he was until he got saddled with a frightening superpower. And dropped into a sorcerous nuclear exchange on the Vermont border. Now he's just in a whole lot of trouble.

Then I've got a story coming out in the anthology, Hills of Fire: Bare-Knuckle Yarns from Appalachia. The story's a two-fisted adventure about hot cars, bootlegging and an unusual devil's deal, called "The Back Roads to Hell." Facebook page here. You can pre-order it from the publisher's site.

Finally, you can still buy the urban fantasy novel I co-wrote with Judith Doloughan, Fraterfamilias, in print and ebook (for $1.20! Such a steal!). The sequel, Confraternitas, comes out next summer. Get caught up now. Facebook page here.

Synopsis: "French artist Paul Farrell kills four people in Paris and walks into a hail of police fire at JFK Airport. A Russian history professor and shaman with a dark secret steals the body. Police on both sides of the Atlantic are on the case, but they each have secrets of their own. And a powerful enemy watches from the shadows, one who could destroy them
all."

The novel Judith and I cowrote together, Fraterfamilias, is back out in print, this time under the names "Judith Doloughan" and "Paula R. Stiles":

Quiet artist and widower Paul Farrell commits four murders in Paris, escapes to New York and commits suicide-by-cop in the airport terminal, only steps from freedom. Enter his fraternal twin, Alan Kedward, paleoanthropologist and shaman, who ropes his graduate student, Bobby Corazon, into helping him "rescue" Farrell from the morgue. Kedward is convinced his brother's still alive...and he may be right. Meanwhile, police from both sides of the Atlantic are looking for answers to Farrell's inexplicable killing spree and death, but no one knows about the mortal enemy from Kedward's past, the one with a direct connection to the Knights Templar and their fall. The one who could destroy them all.
